Last weekend, Murcia opened its doors to the Open House Murcia (OHM) event, a gathering where heritage and architecture come together to showcase the hidden gems within the city’s walls.
At Verrochio, we were delighted to collaborate in this new edition of an event that has been held internationally since 1992 in cities such as London, New York, Milan and Buenos Aires.
As part of OHM’s programme, we sponsored an exclusive wine tasting on the terrace of the Hispania building, together with Bodegas Casa Rojo, where guests were able to enjoy the city’s architecture from above.
For the second activity, we ventured into the vaults of the Almudí Palace, where, together with artisan Raquel Castillo, we explored the connection between carpentry and jewellery.
Both crafts are driven by the same motivation: creating pieces designed for people. Spaces and objects that reflect the personality of those who inhabit or wear them.
Among the buildings featured during the event were the Santa Clara Museum, the Old Prison, the Museum of Fine Arts and the Murcia Science Park. Meanwhile, private spaces such as Clínica Muñoz, by Matiz Arquitectura, C de Cielo, by Srta. Rottenmeier, and Ático Azul Egeo, by UNO100 Arquitectura, opened their doors to the public to reveal the secrets behind each project.
Open House Murcia offers a different way of approaching architecture: experiencing it and understanding it from within. For us, it has been a pleasure to contribute to the promotion of art, design and a way of experiencing architecture that goes beyond the conventional.
